Training
Association of College and University Educators (ACUE):
Daytona State College is excited to offer its faculty the opportunity to participate in and pursue a Certificate in Effective Online College Instruction, the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).
Four micro-credentials offered over the course of an academic year prepare faculty with evidence-based teaching practices proven to increase student achievement.
ACUE courses feature digital badging, providing an easy way to document a commitment to instructional excellence. Badges can be added to your curriculum vitae, used in online teaching portfolios, and displayed on LinkedIn profiles or web pages as a sign of your achievement.
The ACUE enrollment period begins now! All full-time and part-time faculty are eligible and encouraged to sign up for more than one course.
LEAD Academy:
Leadership, Exploration, and Development (LEAD) Academy is designed to develop a college workforce comprised of people with the skills and knowledge to function effectively as leaders and positively impact the college and its students. The LEAD Academy emphasizes practical application of skills and knowledge and maximizes the participant’s ability to support the mission of Daytona State College. Program content is focused on how Daytona State College functions, how it fits into a larger system, and how decisions are made at the college.
The LEAD Academy is currently under revision for the 2024-25 Academic Year and will return with more information regarding the 2025-26 Academic Year cohort in Summer 2025.
NISOD:
Daytona State College is a proud NISOD member institution.
The National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) provides budget-friendly, high-quality, and faculty-focused programs and resources for community and technical colleges that want to make the most of their professional development dollars. For over 40 years, NISOD has aligned a wide array of benefits with the needs of our members, which explains why the American Association of Community Colleges named NISOD, “The country’s leading provider of professional development for community college faculty, staff, and administrators.”
To access NISOD resources you'll need to register using your daytonastate.edu email account. You can access NISOD's registration page here.
The NISOD Excellence Awards were established in 1991 to provide NISOD member colleges with an opportunity to recognize individuals doing extraordinary work on their campuses. Since then, more than 30,000 recipients have been honored with the Award by their colleges. Using their own criteria, NISOD member colleges submit the names of employees each year who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues. All individuals whose names are submitted are recognized as NISOD Excellence Award recipients.

WAC/WID:
The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing-in-the-Disciplines (WID) Program at Daytona State College offers faculty and staff several opportunities for professional development. Each opportunity emphasizes the link between writing and learning and introduces participants to classroom strategies that foster critical thinking and engagement with course material. Participants can complete one or more portions of the program or do the entire sequence. Participants who complete the entire sequence are eligible to become Faculty Fellows in the WAC/WID Program. Faculty Fellows serve as campus leaders through peer mentorship and program facilitation. In addition to our professional development opportunities, we also offer classroom support through our Writing Fellows Program.
There are three distinct elements to the WAC/WID Program at Daytona State.
- Fall "Introduction to WAC/WID Practices" Mentorship Program
- Spring "Foundations of WAC/WID Practices" Teaching & Learning Online Collaborative
- Summer "Applying WAC/WID Practices" Teaching & Learning Retreat
