DAYTONA STATE COLLEGE FOUNDATION
At a certain age, everyone thinks about what legacy they will leave for future generations.
And though the first thought in this regard might indeed be about money or possessions,
leaving a legacy is about so much more. Things like character, tradition, family stories,
and, perhaps, faith come to mind. Tim Norton, executive director, and Sue Durgy, director
of development, of the DSC Foundation will discuss how it’s never too early (or late!)
to start planning to leave a legacy.

THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
Dr. Sarah Strazzo, assistant professor of Meteorology, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University,
will present on the effects of climate change. Physical theory, direct observations,
and indirect evidence from sources such as ice cores and tree rings indicate that
global average temperatures are rising in response to increased greenhouse gas concentrations.
What effects might this warming have on high-impact global events such as floods,
wildfires, and hurricanes? This talk will examine the expected, and in some cases
observed, impacts of global climate change on a wide range of extreme weather phenomena.
We’ll discuss why scientists are hesitant to attribute a single extreme event to climate
change, but also how recent advances in the field and our ever-growing observational
data sets give us insight into what we can expect if the warming continues.
