DSC Ranked Among the Nation’s Best for Online Information Technology Degrees
DSC ranked #21 in report compiled by Online Schools Report
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (Feb. 5, 2020) – Daytona State College has added another honor to its list of recent awards as the school’s online Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program (BSIT) is ranked among the nation’s best according to Online Schools Report (OSR). Seven of the colleges and universities listed were from the state of Florida and Daytona State held the top position among that group.
DSC is ranked No. 21 by the publication which ranks the quality of online programs based on six data points, three of them school-wide and three program-specific. School-wide components include student satisfaction, admission rates and the number of online programs the school offers. For the program-specific components, OSR checks the median debt of graduates from that program, how many degrees are offered within that program’s umbrella department and what percentage of students the school graduates from that department.
“These results are a direct effort of the top-notch faculty in these programs,” said Dr. Ronald Eaglin, Chair of the School of Engineering Technology. “The training the faculty receive, their dedication to the students and work they put into their classes are reflected by these results and the professional accreditations of the programs.”
The BSIT degree prepares graduates for technical positions in the fields of information systems management, information technology, network security, digital forensics and computer programming. Graduates have a broad understanding of processes that support the development, delivery, management and security of information systems. Daytona State’s program can be completed in a traditional classroom setting or fully online.
The ranking by OSR follows similar recognition for two other Daytona State programs in the fall. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing was ’ranked as the nation’s No. 1 most affordable online nursing school by Best Health Degrees and DSC’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program (BSET) was ’ranked No. 1 in affordability by the Bachelor’s Degree Center. The College was also recently ranked No. 29 by U.S. News & World Report for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs and was the top ranked college in the Florida College System.
