Your Path to Success
Daytona State College's School of Cosmetology offers Barbering. Our program is performance based and will help you develop the general knowledge, problem-solving abilities and skills required for employment in your chosen discipline. Incorporated into the curricula is hands-on lab participation to help you develop subject mastery. Careful instructional design combined with dedication and a teamwork approach allow you to graduate with the skill and confidence needed to succeed in your career.
Offered on the Daytona Beach campus, the Barbering program is full-time and runs Monday – Thursday, days and evenings. You will get top-notch training at an affordable price. You'll learn the latest techniques and skills in hairstyling, shaping, coloring, and texture, as well as clipper cutting, shaves, mustache and beard trims as you prepare to take the state licensure examination.
Our students develop the analytical skills necessary to determine the best possible cut for each client, using the perfect blend of timeless attention to detail with the savvy of modern style. Effective communication, proper grooming and barbershop management also are incorporated into the curriculum.

How to enroll in the Barbering Program
- Get admitted to Daytona State College online at DaytonaState.edu or go to any Daytona State College admissions office.
(Remember to enter the program code for the program major you are interested in.) 1218 Barbering, Vocational Credit Certificate (900 Contact Hours) - Complete Daytona State College online orientation.
- Take TABE placement exam (Vocational Credit Programs)

Hybrid courses are part lecture and part online delivery. Lecture time may vary from
30% to 79% of the hours needed to complete the course. The remaining hours devoted
to the course are delivered through the Internet via Daytona State's learning management
system through Falcon Online.

Offered on the Daytona Beach Campus Daytona State offers a one-semester bridge course for licensed cosmetologists interested in expanding the scope of their careers. In this course, you will acquire knowledge of the principles of Florida law, and management, history of the art of barbering and its evolution through the centuries, proper sanitizing procedures for tools and implements, the art of shaving, honing and stropping. Curriculum is designed to help program graduates successfully pass the state licensure examination for barbers.
