About Us
The Federal TRiO Programs (TRiO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Daytona State College offers two TRIO programs (Talent Search and Student Support Services), which are targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-secondary education.
TRiO Student Support Services (SSS)
Serving DSC college students
The goal of the Student Support Services program is to increase the college retention
and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from
one level of higher education to the next. The program provides support services to
low-income students, first generation college students, and disabled students enrolled
in post-secondary education programs. Eligible students may receive (among other services)
personal and academic career counseling, career guidance, instruction, mentoring,
and tutoring.
TRiO Talent Search (TS)
Serving 6-12 grade students
The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds
who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.
The Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds
who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic,
career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate
from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education.
