Daytona State Women's Volleyball set a solid precedence with their inaugural season of NJCAA volleyball. The Falcons finished the season 21-16 overall and 4-4 in Mid-Conference play. Included in those 21 wins were victories over strong seasoned programs, like nationally ranked (9th), Miami-Dade College.
In addition to establishing a strong foundation for the program to build on, individual Lady Falcons were recognized by the Mid-Florida Conference as conference leaders. Freshmen, Joely Cabrera and Halle Dotson were named to First Team All-Conference. Cabrera is currently fifth in the nation in kills with 522 kills and Dotson is 11th. Dotson accumulated 460 kills in her freshmen season. In addition to these First Team All-Conference selections, the Falcons also received recognition on the Mid-Florida Conference's Second Team. Freshmen, Caitlin Conner and Kiara Colson, were selected to represent the conference.
With an entire roster of freshmen in 2013, the future looks bright for the Falcons as they consider the 2014 season. Isabella Caraballo and Haliegh Deligatti have already signed on to join the Falcons in 2014. The Falcons are looking to add two additional recruits to round out a strong 2014 recruiting class for the Falcons.
"Overall the first season was a solid success. I was extremely proud of our girls to rise to the challenges of the competitive Florida NJCAA Region. With our first year under our belts, and commitment to a strong spring season, these young ladies should be excited about what the 2014 season has to offer," commented Coach Stegall on the completion of her first season with the Falcons.
