Daytona State Volleyball Loses Heartbreaker to 12th Ranked College of Central Florida



The Lady Falcons battled it out against their Mid-Florida Conference opponent, College of Central Florida, last night in an epic five set match. The Falcons found themselves down early, 0-2 to the Patriots of Central Florida, but refused to back down. The Falcons battled back to tie the match 2-2 before heading into game five. The Falcons kept it close in set five, but after missing back-to-back serves, found themselves just out of reach of closing out the match, dropping the final set 13-15.
Jazmin Alexander and Joely Cabrera led the Falcons offensively. Alexander had 11 kills on the night hitting .348. Cabrera led all attacking categories with 27 kills, hitting an impressive .377 attack percentage.

This young Falcon program, in just their first season of competition, has shown their opponents that they are a force to be reckoned with. They have taken the Patriots to two five set matches over the course of this season. Additionally, they have gone five with 17th ranked State College of Florida and 19th ranked Florida State College at Jacksonville. The programs biggest win this season came against 10th ranked Miami-Dade College. With their core players returning in 2014, the Falcons have positioned themselves to be extremely successful in the years to come.
