Verify that the computer/laptop/tablet that is running Windows is using the most current
version of the Java environment. (The following assumes that this step takes place
before the device is introduced to the DSC wireless network. Attempting to follow
this step will not be possible on a DSC campus until the device has registered with
the XpressConnect system.)
Open a web browser, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome.
Open Java.com/en/ and follow the installation instructions for the Java installation provided by Oracle
It is required but it is recommended to run the remaining steps with Internet Explorer
in Desktop Mode. Desktop Mode will make it significantly easier to look between windows
later on in the instructions.
Click the Windows Wireless Network Tool located in the System Tray
Select the “Join-DSCWireless” item
The default web browser for the Windows device should start. If it does not then open
a web browser. Either condition will display Xpress.DaytonaState.edu. This is the home page for the enrollment process.

Please take note of the text in the boxes for “Staff” and “Student”. Visually they
are close to the same with exception of the user name format. A staff user name is
presented as name@DaytonaState.edu. A student user name is presented as email@example.com.
If you selected the wrong user type, click “Back” and make another choice.
Enter your user name or guest information then select “Continue”.
You will next be presented with a list of operating systems with “Windows Surface

You will be asked if you would like to open or save the certificate. Select “Open”.
Once the certificate has successfully downloaded you will be asked if you would like
to open it. Select “Open”. This will start the Windows Certificate Import Wizard as

Windows will now ask you where you would like to store the certificate that you previously
downloaded. Make sure that “Automatically select the certificate store based on the
type of certificate” has been selected.
You should now be presented with a summary result window. Click “Finish”.
Return to your web browser if you haven’t done so already.
Select “Step 2” from the list of instructions.
This will start the download process for the second certificate that is needed.
When asked to “Open” or “Save” the certificate, select “Open”.
Once the certificate has successfully downloaded select “Open”. This will start the
Windows Certificate Import Wizard again.
Just as before, make sure that “Current User” is selected.
Click “Next” on the File to Import window.
On the Private Key Protection window you will need to provide the same password that
you provided at the start of the process. You can select “Display Password” to make
sure that you have input the correct password.
For the Certificate Store window, make sure that “Automatically select the certificate
store based on the type of certificate” option is selected.
You will now be presented with a summary results window. Click “Finish”.
Click the Windows Wireless Network Tool from the System Tray to view the available
