DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Sept. 28, 2009) - Daytona State College will host the Florida Association of Teacher Educators annual conference Oct. 9 – 10 at the Advanced Technology College.
The conference will feature leading educational researchers and practitioners from around the state, who will share best practices regarding how to approach teaching and learning among today’s K-12 students, with an emphasis on virtual teaching and distance education.
The theme for this year’s conference is “The Art of Teaching New Millennium Learners: Access, Resources and Technology.” The conference will cover a wide variety of topics, including the challenges of establishing virtual schools, best uses of online technologies, the powers and pitfalls of social networking, 3D virtual worlds in education, remote observation of students, cyberbullying, pedagogical strategies for the online environment, effective use of online technologies in teaching special education students, the art of communicating in an online environment and much more.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Charles Dziuban, director of the Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Central Florida, and Dr. Kate Kemker, director of Technology and Learning Innovation for the Florida Department of Education.
Conference hours are 1 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The ATC is located at 1770 Technology Blvd., just north of the intersection of Williamson and LPGA Boulevard in Daytona Beach.
