Two-weeks of Lochte Swim Camps start June 15

 

Lochte Swim CampDAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 18, 2009) - Learn the training tips of World Record Holder and Olympic Champion, Ryan Lochte, during two week-long swim camps hosted by Daytona State College. Camps are scheduled for June 15 - 19 and June 22 - 26, and will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on the Daytona Beach Campus.

 

Head Coach of the College’s Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving program for both men and women, Steve Lochte, will serve as Camp Director and will be assisted by Kristen Lochte, a six-time All-American for the National Champions.

 

Campers, aged nine to 16, will learn the foundation techniques that are essential to stronger, faster, and more efficient competitive swimming. All four strokes will be broken down with the identical tips that Ryan Lochte, learned and continues to practice. There will be two water workouts and two lectures per day. Lecture topics will include dry-land training tips, race strategy, nutrition, seasonal planning, biomechanical improvements, meet preparation, and other topics pertinent to competitive swimming. Video-taping of each swimmer will occur for take-home viewing.

 

Special guests include Ryan Lochte and Greg Troy, Head Coach of University of Florida men’s and women’s team, and assistant U.S.A. Olympic Coach.

 

Camp participation is limited to a maximum of 50 per week. Cost for each week-long camp is $300 per student.

 

Camps will be held in the L. Gale Lemerand Center, (Bldg. 310) located on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Parents/guardians will need to sign students in and out each day. Participants will need to bring their own swim equipment (pull buoy, kickboard, paddles, bands and snorkels) along with daily lunch/snack and drinks; towel and clothing for lectures and lunch.

 

Completed registration forms, along with payment, must be delivered in person to the Daytona State College Daytona Beach Campus, Bldg. 310, Rm. 125. Someone will be available to assist from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Out of town guests may pay by credit card over the phone; call (386) 506-4386 for payment and registration information.
