DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Sept. 22, 2009) – In support of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Daytona State College will host the 19th annual Abilities Awareness Day, Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the College’s Daytona Beach Campus.
Co-presented by Daytona State’s Student Disability Services and Student Activities departments, the event will feature live entertainment, free food, interactive games and annual wheelchair rally. With more than 200 students receiving educational assistance through Daytona State’s Student Disabilities Services, Abilities Awareness Day brings together both non-disabled people and those with disabilities in a day of fun and celebration.
Various vendors will demonstrate equipment used by people with disabilities and local agencies that provide assistance to people with disabilities will also participate.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Daytona Beach Campus is located at 1200 W. Int’l Speedway Blvd.
