Learn about Economic Gardening and how it can Economic Gardening flyergrow your business

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Sept. 11, 2009) – Hosted by Daytona State College Economic Development, gain insight on the current and projected business climate and learn about Economic Gardening during a half-day presentation scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Today’s economic landscape may look barren, but new strategies of Economic Gardening are being planted, so that with the right nurturing, will help sprout new jobs and seed renewed prosperity. Designed to harvest the potential of existing local companies and entrepreneurs, Economic Gardening is quickly taking root as a viable economic development tool.

Design and implementation of Economic Gardening programs will be presented by Steve Quello, President/Principal, CEO Nexus, a public-private initiative dedicated to helping second-stage CEOs take their companies to the next level. Based on the principles of peer learning, CEO Nexus is a collaborative effort comprised of CEOs, business-owner mentors, entrepreneur support organizations and professionals with expertise in areas vital to the success of growing companies. Following Mr. Quello will be a panel discussion led by Dr. Tom O’Neal of UCF which will include several second-stage CEOs who have benefited from this program. Current supporters of this statewide initiative are the Florida High-Tech Corridor Council, University of Central Florida Office of Research and Commercialization, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the Edward Lowe Foundation.

This free seminar will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 8 to 11:30 a.m., in bldg. 110, rm. 112 on the College’s Daytona Beach Campus 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Seating is limited; reservations are required. Make your reservation to attend by calling (386) 506-4450.
