DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 11, 2013) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for March 2013.

FRESH START Class: Displaced Homemakers Program
Sponsored by Daytona State College's Center for Women and Men, this three-week program is designed to assist individuals to make a successful transition from homemaker to workplace. Participants will learn how to build confidence, manage stress, establish goals, explore career interests, investigate educational opportunities, write a successful resume, improve interview skills, learn job search tools, and prepare for a new beginning. Sponsored by Daytona State College and the State of Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity. Monday - Friday. Free.

FRESH START FOR MEN
Sponsored by Daytona State College’s Center for Women and Men, this four-week program assists men who desire to make a successful transition into career and technical training programs at Daytona State College. Students will explore career options, examine educational opportunities, and establish personal and career goals. They will also learn interview and job-readiness skills and how to create a resume for successful entrance into the workforce. Participants must have a high school diploma/GED or be willing to pursue a GED at the Daytona State College School of Adult Education. Classes meet over the course of 4-weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Free.

Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
Join the Daytona State College Women's Center as they celebrate National Women's History Month by hosting their annual luncheon that will honor local women who have made a difference in people's lives. This year’s luncheon honors Dr. Pamela Carbiener’s passion for serving all people and providing the highest standard of healthcare services to all whom seek her care, regardless of status, is exemplary. In addition, Major General Polly Peyer (USAF, retired) will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Peyer’s contribution as a “Woman in STEM was most recently observed in her role as Commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Air Force Material Command at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
Tickets are $25 with proceeds benefitting the Daytona State College's Center for Women and Men.
