Calendar of events at Daytona State announced for July 2013

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 11, 2013) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for July 2013.

MUSEUM HOURS: Closed Mondays; OPEN – Tues, Thurs, Fri: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Wed: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Weekends: 1-5 p.m. (June, July and December Hours: Tues-Sun: 12-4 p.m.)  CLOSED – Mondays and for the following dates: Daytona 500 Weekend, Daytona State College Spring Break, Easter Sunday, July 4, July 30-August 17, and Thanksgiving Weekend.

MUSEUM LOCATION: Unless noted otherwise, all museum exhibitions, events and films are presented at the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography which is located on the Daytona Beach Campus of Daytona State College at 1200 International Speedway Blvd, three miles east of 1-95. The museum is located in the Hosseini Center (#1200). Visitor parking is available. Admission & Events are free. DEPARTURES 2013: A Juried Student Exhibition 
Departures is a juried exhibition that highlights photography by recent graduates of the Daytona State College photography program. This is the eighth year that the Southeast Museum of Photography has had the honor of showcasing the work of these recent graduates and it will continue to be a yearly summer event at the museum.

UCF THESIS EXHIBITION 2013
Graduating Student Photography from the University of Central Florida (Daytona Beach). Now in its second year, the UCF thesis exhibition showcases portfolios by recent graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Photography program from the University of Central Florida. A joint partnership between Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida, this UCF-DSC Photography program offers a holistic photographic education which incorporates strong technical, creative, and critical skills to empower graduates for life long success in a variety of professional photographic fields.

ALUMNI FOCUS: Rick Lang, David Monroe and Rick Wagner
The Alumni Focus exhibition at the Southeast Museum of Photography presents photographic works from distinguished alumni of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, a consortium with Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida. This year’s alumni focus features the work of three established photographers, all based in Florida, that specialize in landscape as an overarching theme in their work.

FACULTY FOCUS: STEVEN SPENCER - Recent Photographs
FACULTY FOCUS exhibitions present photographic works from faculty of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, a joint enterprise of the photography programs at Daytona State College, the University of Central Florida (Daytona Campus) and the Southeast Museum of Photography.  The focus for 2013 is recent work by Steven Spencer, a photography professor in the UCF photography program. This exhibition highlights work from the series Six Miles and Also Equivalents, both of which are reflections of life on the Florida coast.

July 8-19, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Digital Photo Academy for Teens
Geared towards teens ages 14-17 with a serious interest in photography, this provides a “college campus connection” and allows access to state-of-the-art equipment. Begin to gradually build a portfolio, and learn more about career possibilities within the photographic industry.
ACADEMY FEE: $360. This fee covers the cost of all materials over the two-week period.
