Calendar of events at Daytona State announced for August 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 16, 2014) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for August 2014.

MUSEUM HOURS: Closed Mondays; OPEN – Tues, Thurs, Fri: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Wed: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Weekends: 1 - 5 p.m. (June, July and December Hours: Tues-Sun: 12-4 p.m.)  CLOSED – Mondays and for the following dates: Daytona 500 Weekend, Daytona State College Spring Break, Easter Sunday, July 4, July 31 - August 18, and Thanksgiving Weekend.

MUSEUM LOCATION: Unless noted otherwise, all museum exhibitions, events and films are presented at the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography which is located on the Daytona Beach Campus of Daytona State College at 1200 International Speedway Blvd, three miles east of 1-95. The museum is located in the Hosseini Center (#1200). Visitor parking is available. Admission & Events are free. The Museum will be closed July 31 through Aug. 18 for Summer Recess. We will re-open on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m.

Of One and the Other - Jayanti Seiler, Daytona State College Faculty Focus exhibitions present photographic works from faculty of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, a joint enterprise of the photography programs at Daytona State College, the University of Central Florida (Daytona Campus) and the Southeast Museum of Photography. This year's Daytona State College faculty spotlight is photography professor Jayanti Seiler and her most recent body of work titled “Of One and The Other.” Closed Mondays; OPEN – Tuesday-Sunday: 12-4 p.m.; the Museum will be closed July 31 through Aug. 18 for Summer Recess, re-opening on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m.

Obsessions, Curiosities, and Fancies - M. Laine Wyatt, University of Central Florida Faculty Focus exhibitions present photographic works from faculty of the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, a joint enterprise of the photography programs at Daytona State College, the University of Central Florida (Daytona Campus) and the Southeast Museum of Photography. Photography Professor M. Laine Wyatt has been exhibiting her work in group and solo exhibitions across the United States and abroad since the early 1980s. This exhibition focuses selectively on five bodies of work, which traverse expansive topics: the nature of women’s relationship to clothing, the physiological landscape of grief, uninhabited interior public spaces, a contemporary observation of the fair, and evocations of longing. OPEN – Tuesday-Sunday: 12-4 p.m.; the Museum will be closed July 31 through Aug. 18 for Summer Recess, re-opening on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m.
