Sept. 15, 2014 - Jan. 23, 2015 DSC launches fall season with free arts show and concert
Studio Arts Show
Installation work by Joanna White, assistant professor of art and program coordinator at Eastern Florida State College. Thematically, White's work addresses concepts of mortality, eternity, permanence, impermanence, individuality and corporality. Contradictions in shape, material and titling allude to notions of distortions, displacement and paradox.

Our Musical Gift to the Community
Our entire department comes together to bring you this annual extravaganza featuring the Symphonic Band and Concert Choir, along with dance and theater students in an evening of your favorite Holiday music and many other surprises! Due to popular demand, the free tickets will be available for pick-up at the News-Journal Center starting Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 11:30 a.m. Limited availability, quantity limits per person apply.

Holiday Gift Concerts to be simulcast into Gillespy Theater

Holiday Gift to the Community Concerts will be simulcast on big screens in the Gillespy Theater at the News-Journal Center on Dec. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m.

To address over-flow crowds every year, a collaboration with WDSC TV will allow a simulcast of the Thursday and Friday shows, providing 250 more seats.

Those who take advantage of this opportunity will have big screen video and state-of-the-art audio for the program. The camera positions will provide angles on the performance not seen by those in the Davidson Theater.

Tickets for the Gillespy simulcast will be at the N-JC box office Monday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. Any remaining tickets will be at the door on the evenings of the performances.

Fall Dance Recital
We invite you to watch our talented students as they perform works in modern dance, ballet, and jazz style. The College Dance Theatre will perform their "works in progress" with the final presentation to be performed in the annual spring recital, Dancescapes.

Yuletide Feast
Join the Lords and Ladies of the Royal Court for an evening of feasting, singing and merriment as we celebrate the Holiday season. The singing, dancing and dialogue are accompanied by the Halifax Consort's Early Music Ensemble and the Daytona State College Brass Ensemble while patrons dine on a scrumptious feast. Always a sellout! Tickets go on sale for this event at DSC's News-Journal Center on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11:30 a.m.
Tickets are $40 per person.

Music Production Rocks!
This performance comes as the culmination of a semester-long course in the contemporary performance aspects of modern rock, pop, blues and country music. The groups will perform a variety of selections that are representative of successful touring bands.
Free to Daytona State College and Volusia and Flagler county students, all others $8 per person or $15 for two.

The performing arts programs at Daytona State prepare students for futures in music, drama and dance, while also providing entertainment opportunities for the community through a variety of events produced each semester. Proceeds from tickets are used to support the Performing Arts Scholarship program at Daytona State.
