Calendar of events at Daytona State announced for September 2016

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 19, 2016) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for September 2016.

Events are open to the public and free of charge, unless otherwise noted.

fitnessFitness Center | Aquatic Center  

Sept. 1-29, 4:45-6:50 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Learn to Swim
From 3-years to 9, the four-week American Red Cross Learn to Swim programs at Daytona State are designed to teach children to swim and be safe around aquatic environments. The programs are broken into two levels, starting with water adjustment skills and advancing to stroke perfection. Water safety is stressed and taught to all participants. All instructors are certified as American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. Pre-registration is required; cost - $50 for each four-week course.

Aqua Aerobics “Stretch & Twist”
This water exercise program provides a total body workout for those of moderate to advanced fitness levels. Classes include exercises for aerobic conditioning, flexibility, and strength training. Aqua Aerobics offers a safe and refreshing way to exercise for all ages. Cost $5 per class; membership at $35 for one month or $100 for four months.

Alignment Yoga 
Reduce stress, improve balance, strength & flexibility for body, mind and breath! Instructor: Jean-Marie Appleby. Wednesdays, $25 per 6 class session.

Latin Dance Fundamentals
Learn the basic fundamentals in Salsa, Bachata, and Cha-Cha-Cha, through a series of footwork, body motion, techniques and styling. – No partner required.
Highly energized, calorie-burning workouts to feel invigorated, stronger and boost confidence "on and off of the dance floor."
Instructor: Kevin Guerra. Thursdays, $25 per 6 class session.
Appropriate Footwear: Sneakers, Tennis Shoes – No Dance Shoes.
