UPDATE: Fall 2020 Semester
Dear Daytona State College Students,
We are pleased to announce that the Fall schedule has been approved and is ready to
share with you. This has been an incredible team effort to stay true to our educational
mission while ensuring a safe environment for everyone who steps back onto a DSC campus.
The Fall term will begin as previously scheduled on Monday, August 24; there are no other changes or variations in the approved academic calendar.
As far as classes are concerned, students will be able to choose a mix of online and on-campus hybrid options. While we will continue to offer our workforce training programs via in-person labs in a safe environment, traditional lecture classes will be converted to either hybrid or online. Hybrid means some portion of the course is taught online and some portion is face to face (f2f). The f2f part will be taught in large classrooms that allow for six (6) feet of distance between all students and faculty. Our goal is to accommodate students who need f2f interaction and also those who prefer to stay online.
For students who enroll in f2f classes, in most cases your scheduled time slot will not change, but you may come to campus fewer days per week. For example, if the full-term lecture class you registered for is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday, it will now meet either Tuesday or Thursday, and it will likely meet in a different (larger) classroom from the one originally in the system. This is an ongoing process so please check your schedules a few days before classes begin to find out the new day and location. You can check your schedule by going to the ‘Help’ page on the DaytonaState.edu website and selecting ‘View Your Class Schedule.’
A portion of f2f classes will also be converted to online. Students whose f2f courses
are converted to fully online will be contacted to ask if you would prefer to remain
in that class or switch to a different hybrid class.
If you need assistance with anything or have additional questions, we are here to help. Enrollment Specialists are available via phone, email, live chat, Skype meeting, and on-campus by appointment only – call (386) 506-3136 to speak to someone or schedule an in-person appointment.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor the situation and develop and refine our best practices throughout the institution.
