Update to DSC Students – Tuesday, May 28, 2020

Dear Students,

Daytona State College has always offered a variety of course options that fit the needs of the many students we serve. While most of the Summer 2020 has been online to this point, we want to be sure that we offer an opportunity for face-to-face experiences as well.

For the Summer 2020 B term, we will be offering a limited number of blended face-to-face/online classes (also referred to as hybrid courses). Hybrid courses allow you to take classes conducive to your schedule while still maintaining the experience of working with faculty members face-to-face. We will also be offering student services by appointment only as part of our phase back approach.

Below is the listing of courses that we will be offering for the Summer 2020 B Term beginning June 29th. Each course will take place in a large classroom designed to hold 70 people or more, but we have capped enrollment to a maximum seating capacity of 20.  Labs will be capped at 10 people, so social distancing can be easily accomplished.  Each classroom and lab will be cleaned and sanitized regularly.

It is important to note that the courses listed above are also offered in our online format during the Summer 2020 B term. This will allow students to choose a learning environment that best fits their needs.

Students coming in for student services or taking hybrid classes are required to follow the protocols below:

  • All students, faculty and staff will be asked to follow current CDC social distancing guidelines and protocols.
  • Masks are required upon entering any building for students, faculty, and staff and must remain on while in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, travel to and from class, etc.
  • Please observe all signs with safety instructions, such as directing you where to go or stand, one-way building entries and exits, limiting numbers in elevators, etc.
  • By enrolling in these courses you agree to abide by these rules.

These measures and protocols are in place so that we can meet the needs for students to have a classroom experience in the safest possible environment. We are requiring students who register for these hybrid classes to agree to adhering to these safety protocols. Upon registration students will be given more specific safety guidelines and protocols.

These are extraordinary times and there are many changes that we are all experiencing together. We hope that this will help you in planning for the summer semester. If you know which classes you want to take, follow these easy steps to enroll. If you need help registering, you can email registration@daytonastate.edu. If you are not sure which classes you need, contact Academic Advising at advising@daytonastate.edu and an advisor will assist you.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Sincerely,

Thomas LoBasso, Ed.D.
