Tuesday, March 17 Update to Students, Faculty & Staff:A Message from President Thomas LoBasso

Dear Students,

Based on the latest updates from state and national officials, students are not to come to any Daytona State College campus until further notice. This is part of the larger effort to limit personal contact per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/CDC and the President’s Guidelines. Students can conduct college business through other means, including phone, email or via live chat.

All face-to-face and hybrid classes will start as online classes on March 23 as previously stated.

However, please note that vocational programs will not meet face-to-face on March 23 as planned. Students in those classes should check their course shells on March 23 for further information about these courses. Please be patient as instructors build online content in preparation to begin March 23.

All students are encouraged to continue checking their college email and online course shells for specific class updates and information.

The Bookstore is also closed for students, however you may order your textbooks online from Follett with free shipping. For other questions about books you may have already ordered, or any other textbook-related questions, please call the Bookstore at (386) 506-3234.

All business with the college (for example Admissions, Financial Aid, Assessment, Student Accounts, Advising, etc.) will be conducted remotely until further notice. All of our student support services will now be completely online. Please see “Student Resources” below for more details, links to live chats, department phone numbers and emails.

For other questions, please contact the StudentAdvocate@DaytonaState.edu.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through this unprecedented situation.

Dear Faculty & Staff,

Based on the latest updates from state and national officials, students are not to come to any Daytona State College campus until further notice. This is part of the larger effort to limit personal contact per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/CDC and the President’s Guidelines. The regional campuses will be closed starting tomorrow, March 18, and DSC staff may be temporarily reassigned to the Daytona Beach Campus as needed.

All business with students will be conducted remotely, utilizing phone, email or via live chat, until further notice. All student support services will now be completely online, by phone, or live chat. Students needing to utilize the Library, Academic Support Center, Writing Center, links to live chats, department phone numbers and emails are being directed to www.DaytonaState.edu/COVID-19. Critical staff have been identified and will continue to be identified to come to campus as the situation changes to maintain college operations.

As stated previously, the College is working to minimize the number of staff on campus as we work to incorporate CDC guidelines. Each Vice President will work with their staff to ensure services are available while managing the need to have employees, where appropriate, temporarily perform some work from home.

All face-to-face and hybrid classes will start as online classes on March 23 as previously stated.

However, please note that vocational programs will not meet face-to-face on March 23 as planned. Students in those classes have been advised to check their course shells on March 23 for further information about these courses as instructors build online content in preparation to begin March 23.

Please stay home if you are sick, exhibiting flu-like symptoms, or meet any of the high-risk criteria as determined by the CDC.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through this unprecedented situation.
