All enrollment growth at Daytona State College is occurring in online classes. The goal of this student online readiness proposal is to improve online student success rates and maintain the quality of online classes all while both meeting the needs of expanding online enrollment and preparing for future growth.

Mission

The mission of the Division of Online Studies is to promote the development of knowledgeable and innovative faculty and to ensure a high quality online educational experience for students. 

Vision

Increase growth and effectiveness of online courses at Daytona State College while enhancing the student online experience. 

Objectives

  • Redesigned a new student online readiness assessment with Institutional Research, which will tie student assessment results with their college ID numbers.
  • Partnered with Academic Advising to implement the student online readiness assessment in the online New Student Orientation, which all students must take before registering for classes. Additionally, Academic Advisers will meet with students and discuss their online readiness score before they register for online classes.
  • Develop a score analysis metric to identify students who are not considered online ready; target this population for additional online readiness support and resources.
