DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2017) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for March 2017.

Events are open to the public and free of charge, unless otherwise noted.

March 1–31 (no classes March 13-17), 11:15. a.m.–noon (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays)
Aqua Aerobics "Stretch & Twist"
This water exercise program provides a total body workout for those of moderate to advanced fitness levels. Classes include exercises for aerobic conditioning, flexibility and strength training. Aqua Aerobics offers a safe and refreshing way to exercise for all ages. Cost $5 per class or free with Aquatic Center membership.

Pool Party
The DSC Alumni & Friends Association and the Aquatic Center invite all alumni, friends & family to join us for a Spring Celebration at the pool. Bring your family for fun in the pool, a family movie, games and a cookout. $5 donation per guest; proceeds benefit the Alumni & Friends Scholarship Fund and the Helping Hands Fund. Limited to the first 200 people.

Dance Trance
A Beginner – Intermediate level class where you get to learn routines but still get a workout. This class is much faster than our Beginner's Class. Beginner's are welcome and encouraged to try this class if they want to review routines at a faster pace. Class format is to go through a routine, break it down and then repeat. Review of 4-5 routines in the hour. Same songs are reviewed all week so that you get to practice them more than once. Fridays, $25 for the session. Class is FREE with a student Fitness and Aquatic Center Membership.

March 23-26
Lifeguard Course
For seasonal or career opportunity, the American Red Cross-certified lifeguarding course at Daytona State College provides training to help individuals develop rescue skills and learn First Aid, CPR and AED. Participants will learn how to prevent accidents through knowledge of lifeguarding, proper use of equipment and understanding responsibilities. The course begins on Thursday, March 23, at 5 p.m. with a required pre-test consisting of a 300-yard continuous swim, a timed swim of 20 yards followed by a surface dive to recover a 10-pound brick and return to start point, and two minutes of treading water. Successful participants will then begin the class with three hours of instruction from 7 to 9 p.m. The course continues on Friday, March 24, from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and concludes on Sunday, March 26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Course fee is $150 (plus $35 American Red Cross Certification Fee) and requires a $50 non-refundable deposit due by March 20.
