Writing Center Director – Faculty # 909105
School of Humanities and Communications

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Doctorate, preferably in Rhetoric and Composition or English Studies. Preferably proven experience managing a Writing Center; minimally, considerable experience working in a Writing Center.

Responsibilities: The Writing Center Director will be a full-time faculty member in the English Department, with some teaching duties on a twelve month contract. Working with the Chair of the School of Humanities & Communication, the Writing Center Director will provide leadership in all aspects of developing and administering the Writing Center at Daytona State College. This position will establish Writing Center policies and procedures; will recruit, train and supervise all Writing Center staff; will develop Writing Center services for the branch campuses; and will develop and provide outreach services to support faculty involved in Writing Across the Curriculum efforts at the college.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Successful candidate must have a knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught; ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications; commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College; computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.

Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary: This is a Twelve-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Tenure and Promotion: Tenure and promotion are dependent upon the development of a successful professional portfolio and committee approval.
